TER Cross Limit Switch — Multi-Direction Travel Limit Control for US Overhead Crane and Hoist Applications

TER Cross Limit Switches are durable, reliable, and rugged — engineered to control the movement of complex machine tools such as hoists and traverse overhead cranes, with internal components comprising wear-resistant materials that ensure superb performance and long mechanical life. Components are water and dust resistant. The Cross Limit Switch takes its name from its cross-shaped actuator rod — a distinctive X-shaped lever configuration that allows the switch to be actuated by contact with a crane bridge, trolley bumper, or runway stop from either direction along the travel path, making it the standard limit switch specification for US overhead crane runway end-of-travel applications where bi-directional actuator engagement is the primary installation requirement.

Cross Limit Switches are available for slow down and stop functions in two directions, as well as in 3-maintained and 4-maintained position configurations — providing the multi-stage switching capability that US crane travel limit systems require for speed reduction before end-of-travel followed by final stop at the runway limit, satisfying both the slow-down and over-travel protection requirements of OSHA 1910.179 and CMAA crane travel limit specifications in a single switch installation. Snap action 1NO+1NC switches with positive opening NC contacts for safety functions are standard across the Cross Limit Switch range.

Cross Limit Switches are particularly well suited to US overhead bridge crane runway end-of-travel installations where the cross actuator engages the runway stop or buffer from either direction of bridge travel, monorail end-of-track applications where bi-directional actuator engagement provides travel limit protection at both ends of the monorail run, and gantry crane runway installations where end-of-travel slow-down and stop switching in both directions of travel is required for OSHA and ASME B30 compliant crane runway limit control.

Crane-Controls.com stocks TER Cross Limit Switches in standard 2-direction, 3-maintained, and 4-maintained position configurations for new US crane installations and replacement of existing cross limit switch systems. Crane-Controls.com's technical team provides pre-sale application support for Cross Limit Switch selection, position configuration, and mounting specification for US crane runway and travel limit applications. OSHA, CMAA, and ASME B30 compliant installations supported.
