TER Fox Series — Enhanced Durability Rotary Limit Switch for US Industrial Crane and Machinery Applications

TER Fox Series is a rotary limit switch used to control and measure the movement of industrial machines by reading the rotation angle and/or the number of revolutions of a shaft. The Fox Series is the step-up TER specification from the Base Series — delivering enhanced environmental protection, greater circuit capacity, optional potentiometer and encoder integration, and a significantly longer mechanical service life for US crane and industrial machinery installations where the compact Base Series does not provide sufficient circuit count, environmental protection, or mechanical durability for the specific application requirements.

Fox Series rotary limit switches consist of a gear motor that transfers movement to cams and other detection devices through a primary input reduction stage using worm gear and helical toothed gear, and one or more secondary output stages. Accurate adjustment of cams is by means of screws, with positive opening NC contacts for safety functions. Mechanical life of switches is up to 10 million operations — ten times the mechanical life of the Base Series — making the Fox the correct TER specification for US crane applications where high cycle frequency would exhaust Base Series switch life within an unacceptable service interval. Up to 5 circuits or 2 potentiometers, with reduction ratio up to 2870:1. Available with anti-moisture plug fitted to the base by means of a lock nut, improving transpiration while maintaining protection against water. Available with flanges, pinion gears, and couplings. Plates with universal adapters to replace existing systems.

IP protection degree is IP65/IP66/IP67/IP69K. NEMA protection degree is Type 4X on cULus marked versions. Extreme temperature resistance is -40°C to +80°C. Fox is available upon request with SIL1 certification per IEC61508. HALT TEST passed, simulating conditions exceeding standard operating conditions.
