Micro-Speed MX-Ultra

Power Electronics Micro-Speed MX-Ultra — Advanced Open-Loop Crane VFD for Travel and Hoisting Applications from 1 to 600HP

Power Electronics Micro-Speed MX-Ultra is the most advanced open-loop VFD for travel motion applications in the Power Electronics range, built on the industry-proven platform of the Micro-Speed Multi-Vector series. MX-Ultra is the current-generation successor to both the Micro-Speed CX and the legacy MX series — combining the proven reliability and instant Gang-Set programming of the Micro-Speed platform with a new generation of web-based programming, EtherNet/IP communication, and advanced crane control capabilities that the previous CX and MX series could not provide.

MX-Ultra models are available in sizes ranging from 1 to 600HP and with all three-phase voltages, designed and manufactured in the United States for the crane, lifting, and hoisting industries. MX-Ultra hoisting models (identified by the "H" suffix) are engineered for horizontal and hoisting motions on hoists with an internal mechanical load brake or a self-locking worm gear design. Standard MX-Ultra traverse models are factory configured for bridge, trolley, monorail, and conveyor travel applications. For no-load-brake hoisting applications requiring closed-loop encoder feedback, the MV-Ultra is the correct specification.

All Ultra Series drives include PE SAM (Swing Amplitude Manager), a patented sensorless anti-sway control system built directly into the drive and unlockable via code, requiring no additional sensors, encoders, zone sensors, or external equipment. PE SAM is the only true sensorless anti-sway system available in a crane VFD — eliminating load swing before it begins rather than reacting after the fact, allowing crane operators to work faster and more safely without waiting for suspended loads to stop swinging between cycles. MX-Ultra drives with PE SAM 1 active deliver full anti-sway capability for bridge and trolley travel motion without requiring a PE drive on the hoist, making SAM 1 a practical anti-sway upgrade for existing US crane installations where travel motion control is being modernized independently of hoist drive replacement. For crane systems where MV-Ultra drives are installed on no-load-brake hoists, PE SAM 2 pairs MX-Ultra travel drives with MV-Ultra hoist drives to deliver the highest level of anti-sway performance available in any crane VFD platform, with MV-Ultra communicating detailed hoist position data to the MX-Ultra travel drives for super-fast acceleration and deceleration with virtually zero load swing. MX-Ultra also includes Smart-Set parameter upload and download capability, EtherNet/IP for PLC integration, and remote access data logging which is unavailable on the CX and legacy MX platforms.

Crane-Controls.com features Power Electronics MX-Ultra drives for new US crane installations and upgrade replacement of existing Micro-Speed CX and legacy MX installations. PE's Upgrade-Path philosophy ensures MX-Ultra is upward compatible with CX programming familiarity, making the transition straightforward for US crane service technicians and electrical contractors already familiar with the PE platform. Crane-Controls.com's technical team provides application support for MX-Ultra selection, upgrade path guidance from CX and legacy MX, and EtherNet/IP integration assistance. OSHA and ASME B30 compliant installations supported. UL, cUL, ETL and cETL listed.
