Vahle C-Rail Festoon System — Cable Management for US Overhead Crane and Bridge Applications

Vahle C-Rail cable carriers deliver power and control to mobile equipment with reciprocal motion and also support large quantities of data cables including optical fibres travelling independently from the mobile machinery. The C-Rail festoon system is the economical Vahle festoon specification for US overhead crane bridge and trolley applications where flat cable is the preferred cable format — the use of flat cable is highly recommended due to better bending properties compared to round cable, with a minimum bending radius of 5 times the cable thickness compared to 5 times the diameter for round cable, allowing considerably smaller bend radii and minimizing the required festoon system storage distance within the length of the equipment.

The C-Rail system is the economical C-Track system suitable for light to medium duty applications, ensuring safe movement and organization of cables and hoses. C-Rail festoon systems mount on C-shaped track sections installed along the crane bridge or runway — individual cable carriers clip onto the track and travel with the crane motion, supporting and managing the cable loop between the stationary power feed and the moving crane bridge or trolley. The modular C-Rail track design supports straightforward system installation, phased runway extension, and simplified cable replacement without specialized tooling or extended crane downtime.
